Environmental Stewardship

Stand Desk Limited is committed to operating an environmentally friendly business. We exclusively use environmentally friendly materials in our stand desk products. Our packaging is 98% recyclable / biodegradable. We are proud supporters of the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Read on to find out more about our environmental practices.

01

Bamboo Desktops

From sustainable plantations

The vast majority of desks, including adjustable height desks, use pressed-wood products, laminate, veneer or MDF. These are packed with formaldyhyde which is toxic to both humans and the environment.

What’s the perfect natural, beautiful, and sustainable material? Bamboo. It is the fastest growing woody plant on earth. Technically a grass, bamboo has been known to grow 39 inches in just 24 hours. Our bamboo desktops are FSC certified.

02

Birch Plywood Desktops

From sustainable plantations

Our new range of birch plywood desk tops are manufactured from sustainable plantations in the Balkans. They are bonded using an eco-friendly formaldyhyde-free bonding agent.

Birch takes ⅓ the amount of time to grow compared to other hardwoods, like oak or walnut. This reduces the time, space, and impact on the environment while also conserving old-growth forests.

Solid Walnut & Oak Desktops

From sustainable plantations

Our new range of solid American Oak and solid American Walnut desk tops are manufactured from sustainable plantations in the USA.

According to the American Hardwood Export Council, red oak is considered highly sustainable for both domestic and export consumption.

Black walnut wood is a sustainable material thanks to trees’ carbon sequestration, carbon storage in furniture, which are generally long-life, and carbon offset upon recycling.

04

Solvent Free Paints

Free of volatile organic compounds

Stand Desk frames are powder coated exclusively using solvent-free paints. Solvents threaten animal and plant life, and the sustainability of our environment and also have numerous detrimental effects on human beings. Our frames manufacturer has Australian certified Green Star certification status.

05

Planet Friendly Packaging

98% Recyclable / Biodegradable

Stand Desk packaging is made from 98% recyclable / biodegradable materials. Our frame packaging uses multi-baffled cardboard and the components are also bagged in biodegradable bags. We have reduced our foam desk top edge protection to just the corners and the rest of the edge protection is now with reinforced cardboard. The desk tops are protected further with a fully biodegradable corn starch based sleeve.

Environmental Partnerships

Committed to making a difference

We are currently proud supporters of the Australian Marine Conservation Society

The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is Australia’s only independent national charity dedicated solely to protecting our oceans. They are a community of ocean lovers across the nation working for healthy seas for all Australians.

AMCS is staffed by a committed group of scientists, educators and passionate advocates who have defended Australia’s oceans for over 55 years. As the guardians and the voice for marine life, they work on the big issues that risk our ocean habitats.

Together, they have protected critical ocean ecosystems with marine reserves around the nation, including Ningaloo and the Great Barrier Reef. They have led the movement to ban whaling, stopped supertrawlers, and protected threatened and endangered species like the Australian Sea Lion.
